Also, some panic. Fix Up Their Truck The old truck in the storage shed has seen better days, but you have all the tools you need to fix it. Pop on a new tire, lift it off its support blocks, and give the battery some juice, so their baby is good to go. Then steal it. I sat with my friend and we beat this in one afternoon. I'd say this game can take from 5 to 7 hours to complete. Also, it's not heavy in the action department, as you could expect. Don't go in expecting this to be Uncharted-like. It's part exploration, part talking, part walking with some bits and pieces of adrenaline, chases and thrills.
But, in my opinion, in perfect amounts. There is a perfect gut punch in the end - as expected. And one that got us thinking a little bit Solid 9. One of the best games of so far. A must-have! My buddy and I played through the game he played for free and it was one of the best co-op games in a while. Pretty good story with likable My buddy and I played through the game he played for free and it was one of the best co-op games in a while.
Pretty good story with likable characters.
Gameplay: I quickly loved the co-op, split screen gameplay which is executed well and works perfectly from start to end. The puzzles are very simple, character movement felt very smooth and the co-op moments were done very well. Every area you find yourself in is very interactive, being able to talk with nearly every NPC also there are plenty of little activities you and your co-op buddy can do throughout the game like dips and pull ups in jail to playing Connect Four in the hospital.
A noticeable detail that caught my eye was the split screen transitions and camera angles that were smooth and creative which helped create some very cool action and chase scenes. Despite knowing what A Way Out aims to be; a co-op story driven game, it certainly lacks in some areas. The game felt incredibly easy with quick time events, easy puzzles and a campaign with little to no replay value. The little time you use a gun or drove a vehicle felt rough, gun bullets felt like you were shooting a BB gun and driving was very clunky.
So without saying much the story is excellent with decent pacing, you get to journey through some interesting places like a prison, farm, hospital and more. The story mainly just concentrates on the two lead characters Leo and Vincent who both give convincing performances, both develop some great chemistry throughout the story and could have you possibly emotionally attached to them by the end.
The music and score was average — nothing spectacular but the voice acting was spot on though from every character but major props to Fares Fares as Leo and Erik Krogh for the excellent performance.
Also needing only one person to purchase the game to play co-op with a friend was neat. Enjoyment: I definitely enjoyed the game but the lack of replay value makes the game a one and done for me, also it felt more like an interactive movie then an actual game and despite the forgiving gameplay and great co-op it falls short from being amazing due to its linear style of sequences, having two choices that lead to the same result is what lowers the score for me.
A great experience but short lived. This review contains spoilers , click expand to view. We were so excited to get this game and finally have a split screen coop game that we could fight the good fight together. Like Yana Kasyanova's review - if I wrote this 40 minutes in I would have said it was the best game in a long time.
Players that are seeking to win together. This game completely fails on that front.
Was painfully disappointing and to top off that it was over in about 8hrs of relaxed play AND it's clearly not designed for replayability - it's hard to believe it got so many positive reviews.
